Description

A refreshing twist on classic bruschetta featuring sweet strawberries, fresh basil, and a tangy balsamic glaze served on crisp toasted baguette slices. This elegant appetizer perfectly balances sweet, savory, and tangy flavors for a light spring or summer bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, diced
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
  2. Toast the bread in the oven for 5–7 minutes, until golden and crisp. Remove and let cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, combine diced strawberries, honey, balsamic vinegar, basil, salt, and pepper. Toss gently to mix and let sit for 5 minutes to marinate.
  4. Spoon the strawberry mixture onto each toasted baguette slice.
  5. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and garnish with extra basil leaves if desired.
  6. Serve immediately as an appetizer or light snack.

Notes

  • For extra richness, spread a thin layer of ricotta or goat cheese on the toast before adding strawberries.
  • Make the strawberry topping ahead of time and chill until ready to serve.
  • Pairs beautifully with white wine or sparkling rosé.
