Description

Elegant, crispy potato roses made by thinly slicing potatoes, seasoning them, and baking until golden. A beautiful side dish perfect for holidays or special dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 large russet or Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin generously.
  2. Wash and thinly slice the potatoes using a mandoline for even slices. Pat dry with paper towels.
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and Parmesan.
  4. Add the potato slices to the bowl and toss until well coated.
  5. Stack the potato slices in overlapping layers to form long strips, then roll them into rose shapes.
  6. Place each potato rose into a muffin cup.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and the centers are tender.
  8. Let cool slightly before removing. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Use parchment strips in muffin cups for easier removal.
  • Add a touch of heavy cream between layers for a richer result.
  • Swap Parmesan with Gruyere for a deeper flavor.
  • Best served immediately while crispy.
