Ingredients
- 4 slices bread (sourdough or rustic bread)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh thyme or parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add mushrooms and cook for 5–7 minutes until browned and moisture evaporates.
- Stir in garlic, salt, and black pepper; cook for 30 seconds.
- Toast bread slices lightly until just crisp.
- Spoon sautéed mushrooms evenly over each toast slice.
- Top with mozzarella (or Swiss) and Parmesan cheese.
- Place under a broiler for 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.
Notes
- Cremini or button mushrooms work best.
- Add a splash of cream for extra richness.
- Serve with a side salad or soup for a complete meal.
