Description

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread (sourdough or rustic bread)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh thyme or parsley, chopped (optional)


Instructions

  1. Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add mushrooms and cook for 5–7 minutes until browned and moisture evaporates.
  3. Stir in garlic, salt, and black pepper; cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Toast bread slices lightly until just crisp.
  5. Spoon sautéed mushrooms evenly over each toast slice.
  6. Top with mozzarella (or Swiss) and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Place under a broiler for 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Cremini or button mushrooms work best.
  • Add a splash of cream for extra richness.
