Description
A hearty and comforting oven-baked dish made with seasoned ground beef, tender mushrooms, creamy sauce, and fluffy rice, finished until golden and satisfying.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 400 g ground beef
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the onion until soft.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Stir in mushrooms and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
- Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
- Add beef broth and cream, simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- In a baking dish, spread the cooked rice evenly.
- Pour the beef and mushroom mixture over the rice and mix gently.
- Top with shredded cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden.
- Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Use brown rice for a higher fiber option.
- You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for beef.
- Add a splash of milk if the mixture seems too thick before baking.
