Description

A hearty and comforting oven-baked dish made with seasoned ground beef, tender mushrooms, creamy sauce, and fluffy rice, finished until golden and satisfying.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 400 g ground beef
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the onion until soft.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  5. Stir in mushrooms and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  7. Add beef broth and cream, simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. In a baking dish, spread the cooked rice evenly.
  9. Pour the beef and mushroom mixture over the rice and mix gently.
  10. Top with shredded cheese.
  11. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden.
  12. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use brown rice for a higher fiber option.
  • You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for beef.
  • Add a splash of milk if the mixture seems too thick before baking.
