Ingredients
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
- 1/2 pound breakfast sausage
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter (for eggs)
- Chopped green onions or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a pizza pan or baking sheet.
- Press the biscuit dough evenly across the pan to form a crust. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden.
- Meanwhile, cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Do not drain completely; leave about 1 tablespoon of drippings in the pan.
- Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually add milk while stirring constantly until thickened into a gravy (about 3-5 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
- In a separate pan, scramble the eggs lightly with butter until just set but still soft.
- Spread the sausage gravy evenly over the biscuit crust.
- Top with scrambled eggs, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese.
- Bake for another 8-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with green onions or parsley before serving.
Notes
- Make the gravy ahead of time to save prep time in the morning.
- Use store-bought sausage gravy for a quick shortcut.
- Add crumbled bacon or diced ham for extra flavor.
- Serve with hot sauce for a spicy twist.
